The statement by President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky about the openness towards the residents of the Republics is yet another provocation and PR move of the Ukrainian power, Commissioner for Human Rights in the DPR Darya Morozova said.
“This passionate speech was addressed to us in the context of the situation with Ukrainian checkpoints, which last week began to let citizens in unilaterally and without the approval of the Republics. Indeed, this step fully demonstrates the special attention that the Kiev authorities intend to “make us happy” with. So “humane” to open the borders when the daily increase in the number of people ill with COVID-19 has already exceeded 12 thousand people in the country. So “thoughtful” to let mothers with their babies into the grey zone, knowing well that checkpoints did not work on the part of the Republics and other solutions had not even been discussed.
By the way, Vladimir Zelensky is infected with COVID-19 himself, and has been self-isolating. Perhaps it is the ill-being that did not let him chose a reasonable line of dialogue with the residents of the DPR and the LPR, because the fake peace-making slogans just do not stand up to scrutiny.
What openness of Ukraine to the Republics is Mr. Zelensky talking about, if today the Verkhovna Rada is considering a draft law providing for the detention and forced resettlement of Russian citizens to specially arranged places on the territory of Ukraine?! In fact, this is how the Kiev authorities are trying to legalize concentration camps for Russians. So where does the Ukrainian president invite us? Into isolation?
Apparently, he either is not aware of the key legislative initiatives happening in his country, or he is just mocking millions of residents of Donbass,” the statement says.
In addition, the DPR ombudsperson said that only a full ceasefire and implementation of the Minsk Agreements could be evidence of Ukraine’s openness and peaceful attitude towards the residents of the Republics.
