On November 26, Head of the DPR Denis Pushilin held a teleconference meeting with Acting Minister of Health Alexander Oprishchenko and chiefs of medical institutions on the issue of sanitary and epidemiological situation in the Republic. According to the press service of the Administration of the Head of the DPR, at the meeting they discussed the situation in the healthcare system during the period of threat of proliferation of the coronavirus infection.
“More than a month ago, on October 20, we met with you at a teleconference meeting on the same issue. At that time, appropriate instructions were given regarding a number of announced problems. Today we will check their execution, will see how the situation has changed. I propose working in a question-answer mode, and we will summarize the results in the end,” Denis Pushilin said, opening the meeting.
Acting Minister of Health Alexander Oprishchenko reported that the total number of detected and confirmed laboratory cases of COVID-19 is 10 332 to date. The total number of hospitalized patients is 1,629.
“As for the COVID-19 bases. For today, 39 COVID-19 bases with a total capacity of 2 600 beds continue to work.
At the moment, given that the epidemiological situation with COVID-19 is under control, the number of people who suffer from pneumonia, including COVID-related, is reducing, because of which a fairly large number of beds remain unoccupied. According to the standards of the Russian Federation, there must be about 30% of free beds — we have more. We decided to gradually reduce the number of bases taking into account the standards of the Russian Federation.
We are preparing to close 11 bases at the moment. As soon as patients are discharged, these hospitals will switch to a normal operation mode. The number of beds we have will be reduced by 321, and we will approximately reach the Russian standards.
All personal protective gear, medications and everything that helps patients with COVID will be put on hold in case of an exacerbation of the epidemiological situation, so the bases can be deployed as a matter of urgency and will be able to receive patients again.
At the moment, the incidence of pneumonia, including COVID-related, is reducing, fortunately for all of us,” he said.
In addition, at the meeting they discussed the situation with the provision of medical institutions with medicines, test systems, medical devices, personal protective equipment, etc.
