According to the press service of the Administration of the Head of the DPR, Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic Denis Pushilin has ordered to open fire at entrenchments erected in the area of Shumy illegally, a correspondent of the DPR Official Website reports.
“Since my statement of August 28, 2020, we have persistently attempted to persuade the Ukrainian side to rectify its positional violations of the Additional Ceasefire Regime Enhancement Measures agreed on July 22, 2020.
At the negotiation venue in Minsk and through the coordination mechanism, according to the clause D of the Additional Measures, we have repeatedly pointed out the need to remove the trenches that the Ukrainian side dug after July 22, 2020, and not to commit further acts of warmongering aimed at disrupting the ceasefire. In addition, we have repeatedly warned that we have the full right to resort to clause E of the Additional Measures in the current situation and correct those violations on our own, but we wanted to avoid that in every way.
The Ukrainian side ignored our reasonable demands. I expected yesterday to receive a document from the JCCC that the Ukrainian side rectified the violations or at least started to rectify them. I has not received such a document.
In this regard, I officially declare that in accordance with clause E of Additional Measures, I have decided to issue an order to open fire at the entrenchments erected illegally in the area of Shumy (600 meters north-east of Shumy — the location of the newly built Ukrainian positions at 48 degrees 22 minutes 57 seconds north latitude and 37 degrees 56 minutes 55 seconds east longitude).
Our representatives will send the official notification about this decision to the Contact Group. The Ukrainian side will be informed of precise coordinates of the place of the operation through the JCCC. I call on the Ukrainian side to ensure that military personnel are absent in the specified area at 8:00 on September 7, 2020. We do not need any human casualties. We do not need to break the truce. We only want to abide by the agreements we have reached.
I call on the OSCE SMM to monitor this operation at the specified time,” Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic Denis Pushilin stated.
