On Wednesday, February 3, Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic and Supreme Commander-in-Chief Denis Pushilin congratulated the military of the 1st Guards Special Forces Battalion on the 6th anniversary of the unit’s foundation and presented state awards to distinguished fighters, the press service of the DPR Head’s Administration reports.
The ceremonial event was also attended by Chairman of the DPR Government Alexander Ananchenko, Chief of the DPR People’s Militia Department Major General Denis Sinenkov, and honorary guests.
The event began with the trooping of the Colors, then the Head of the Republic addressed those present.
“Dear soldiers, I congratulate you on the sixth anniversary of the formation of the battalion. Six years is long enough. Quite recently we celebrated the battalion’s five-year anniversary. A year has passed, it was not easy, during this year you did your best and fulfilled your duty. You were defending the Russian Donbass, the Russian idea, the Russian memory. You defended the citizens of the Donetsk People’s Republic, who are immensely grateful to you for that!
I very much expect that the battalion will continue to show such high performance, do its duty with honor, understanding why you are doing it.
I am proud to present well-deserved awards to the best of the best. I’m glad we have a tradition of honoring our distinguished soldiers on the battalion’s anniversary,” Denis Pushilin noted.
For significant achievements in ensuring the defense and security of the Donetsk People’s Republic, courage and heroism shown during the accomplishment of special tasks, the leader of the country awarded the best of the best with state decorations of the Donetsk People’s Republic: Medal for Courage, Decoration For Services to the Republic of the 3rd class and St George’s Cross of the 3rd class. Fighters of the battalion were also awarded military ranks. The ceremonial event ended with a concert program organized by soldiers of the unit.
