President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky in an interview with the Austrian Wiener Zeitung newspaper said that internal unrest are likely to occur in the territory of the people’s republics due to the fact that, in his opinion, local population there is worse off than that in Ukraine. Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic Denis Pushilin commented on that statement.
“From the statements made by the Ukrainian authorities, it is clear that the situation in Ukraine is ways more oppressive than the Ukrainians assume. In order to receive another tranche from Western partners and disguise the actual situation, Kiev is trying to get the residents of the people’s republics involved into its dirty political plays while disregarding the fact that the Ukrainian party itself has been firing at us for as long as six years now,” Denis Pushilin said.
According to him, budget shortfalls and inability to make the right political decisions have led Ukraine into stagnation in every aspect of life, and the raising of utility prices and the lifting of the moratorium on land sales make the Ukrainians hostages of their own state.
“It is in such a state of affairs that the Ukrainian president makes statements on an alleged humanitarian catastrophe caused in Donbass by the COVID-19 pandemic. At the very least, these statements are cynical, since Zelensky passes over in silence the fact that worst records in the rate of coronavirus cases are daily registered in Ukraine. And these figures are many times higher than those that we have reached for the entire period of the pandemic,” Denis Pushilin emphasized.
He added that the epidemiological situation in the DPR is controlled and consistently positive.
“I am confident that the Ukrainian authorities will continue to manipulate public consciousness, occasionally taking cover behind the residents of Donbass. Thereby, they are attempting to disguise the fact of having betrayed the national interests of their country in favour of the overseas handlers. Therefore, Kiev should really consider the idea that mass unrest is what they are in for,” the DPR Head summed up.
