The People’s Patrol, jointly with the Donetsk Republic Public Movement, the DPR People’s Militia Directorate and public figures, delivered food humanitarian aid to the frontline village of Zaichenko — 30 food sets, which included canned food, flour and groceries.
“Zaichenko is a village located a couple of kilometres away from the line of contact with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. 128 people live here, mostly elderly people. There are a few children — seven preschoolers.
In Zaichenko there live the people who have gone through the horror of the war, and many need support in these difficult times. We have arrived with humanitarian aid for the village residents to support those in need,” Head of the People’s Patrol Roman Troshin commented.
According to the villagers, everyone has been affected by the war in Zaichenko as the village has sustained damage due to the Ukrainian artillery shelling. Today, roofs are being restored, windows are being installed and construction materials are being allocated to those in need.
“All the houses of this village have been damaged by the Ukrainian shelling… And this misfortune has not left us untouched. When a shell landed in the yard, we were sleeping in the basement. We survived only owing to the fact that there was no direct hit in the house. The ceasefire has been in effect for two months now, but we are still in the state of alert every day. One shudders to think that we have already got used to the daily shelling by the Ukrainian forces,” local resident Svetlana Vykhodtseva commented.
