Alexey Reznikov, deputy head of the Ukrainian delegation to the Minsk negotiating venue, in fact, directly claimed that the Minsk Agreements do not work and Ukraine is ready to withdraw from the peace process approved by the UN Security Council. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the DPR Natalya Nikonorova commented on his statement.
“Statements by the deputy head of the Ukrainian delegation to the Minsk negotiation venue in a certain sense surpass the record high of absurdity and arrogance previously set by Ukrainian representatives,” Natalya Nikonorova stressed.
She noted that Reznikov had made the statement despite the fact that from the very beginning, the republics, the OSCE mediators and guarantor countries such as Russia, Germany and France proceeded from the premise that the Minsk talks are the very venue where peace in Donbass should be negotiated.
“Therefore, the conclusion is certain that the thesis voiced by the Ukrainian “reintegration minister” surpassed even Poroshenko’s rhetoric, who also loved talking about how uncomfortable he was with the very existence of the Minsk talks.
But the team of “servants of the people” goes on: they assume the stance that goes against Zelensky’s activities himself, who personally reaffirmed the commitment of the Ukrainian state to the Complex of Measures and other documents of the Minsk package at the summit of the Normandy Four. In this regard, a reasonable question arises whether such statements by Mr. Reznikov should be regarded as the official position of the Ukrainian president, or the chaos in this country has reached such a level that the left hand does not know what the right hand does and the head is blind and deaf completely?” Natalya Nikonorova said.
The DPR Minister of Foreign Affairs also spoke in detail about the attitude of the Ukrainian authorities to the Minsk Agreements.
“Ukraine does not have political will to fulfill its obligations under the Minsk Agreements in the existing form and format, and therefore Kiev representatives to Minsk have neither the desire nor the appropriate authority to achieve any mutually agreed decisions and agreements within the Contact Group. In such circumstances, the Ukrainian authorities consider it logical not to continue working on the existing agreements, but propose signing some new ones, more convenient for the Ukrainian side. Our position on this issue is plain: if Ukraine decides to enter into some kind of Stockholm or any other agreements with someone, they have this right, this is their internal matter. But this stormy activity will not concern the republics for sure — we will go our own way in accordance with our internal agenda,” Natalya Nikonorova stated.
Besides, she recommended that international actors with whom Ukraine wants to conclude agreements think twice before trusting the Kiev signatory, who after reaching agreements will delay their implementation for 6 years and then will disclaim their obligations.
