On August 13, Zugres hosted a commemoration event dedicated to the sixth anniversary of the air attack on the town, committed by Ukrainian air forces.
Hundreds of citizens assembled to honor the memory of the victims.
“Many lost their loved ones, friends, fathers, mothers and children that day. The criminal Kiev power issued the terrible and cruel order. That air attack left non-healing wound in our souls. Our sacred duty is to do everything to reestablish peace in Donbass, to ensure that the criminals are justly punished,” Secretary of the local branch of the Donetsk Republic Public Movement and Head of the Zugres Town Hall Nikolay Poyaus said to the residents of Zugres.
The residents of the Republic observed a minute of silence in tribute to the memory of the dead civilians of Zugres and defenders of the Donetsk land and laid flowers at the memorial sign.
Six years ago, on August 13, 15 residents of Zugres fell victim to the air attack committed by Ukrainian air forces. Three of them died on a children’s beach, two in town. Four more people died from their wounds afterwards.
As a sign of unity and aversion to the war, the children of Zugres released pigeons into the sky. May they represent the souls of those who are no longer with us. And may their flight remind everyone that Donbass is for peace!
