On August 15, during his working trip to Makeyevka, Head of the DPR Denis Pushilin talked with the medical director and employees of Town Clinical Hospital 5. According to the press service of the Administration of the Head of the DPR, this hospital treats patients with coronavirus infection, suspected coronavirus and those diagnosed with pneumonia. To date, the hospital has 50 people, 14 of them have been tested positive for COVID-19.
At the beginning of the meeting Denis Pushilin thanked the medical workers for their work.
“First of all, I would like to thank you for what you are doing. Doctors have found themselves in the most difficult conditions today, and not only here. We have a lot of work to do. Nevertheless, we can safely say that the situation is stable, no outbreaks are forecasted. The measures that are being taken are sufficient.
But it would still be wrong of us to take it a step further and lift the restrictions, especially given what is happening in Ukraine. Official information and figures there are frightening: worst records are registered every day,” the Head of the Republic noted.
He added that it is risky to open the border with that neighboring state at the moment.
“Yes, there are many requests to open the border. But we realize perfectly well that if we lift the restrictions on entering and leaving now, we will not have to wait long for such outbreaks as in Ukraine. We cannot take risks,” the Head of State said.
Denis Pushilin asked the hospital staff whether the uplifts are paid on time to medical workers who are involved in the treatment of patients with the coronavirus infection, whether the uplifts reach their destination in full, and also inquired whether the medical institution has problems that must be urgently addressed.
“We get all the uplifts in the amount provided for by the decree. And this significantly increases the salaries of our doctors.
Concerning the problems, they emerged at the beginning of the pandemic, but were solved swiftly thanks to both the Town Hall and the Ministry of Health. In general, everyone helped us.
At the moment, there are no global problems. We are stocked with protective gear. Patients with COVID-19 are treated completely for free at the expense of those medicines that come by orders of the Ministry of Health, humanitarian aid. Patient examination reagents are also free of charge. Patients are well fed, they have four meals a day. All problems are addressed,” Medical Director Natella Dzhodzhishvili answered.
Denis Pushilin also stressed that high hopes are placed on the vaccine that is being developed in the Russian Federation.
“We place high hopes for the vaccine. There are different opinions, but the information about the tests that we have now allows us to look to the future with optimism. We will look at how we can get the vaccine. And we think it is right to begin with healthcare workers and teachers. Because we are starting the academic year, and it is important that children study efficiently and have a proper Knowledge Day on September 1st,” Denis Pushilin summed up.
