A bust to Hero of the Donetsk People’s Republic Arsen Pavlov (Motorola) was put up in Donetsk today, on October 16, on the fourth anniversary of the legendary battalion commander’s death. According to a correspondent of the DPR official website, the opening ceremony was attended by Head of the Republic Denis Pushilin.
“Time runs inexorably fast. We say today that Arsen Pavlov, a Hero of the Donetsk People’s Republic, was killed four years ago. The legendary commander distinguished himself in a number of battles, and together with his comrades-in-arms, together with his fighters he contributed to the fateful victories of the Donetsk People’s Republic. His courage, bravery, originality gave hope and confidence to many patriots of Donbass.
The despicable terrorist act, which cut his life short, was supposed to be, according to our enemies, a certain element that would bring panic and confusion. But Arsen, by his example, instilled the will to win in the hearts of defenders of the Donetsk People’s Republic.
Today, we put up a bust to the legendary battalion commander on the Alley of Heroes. He was one of those who wrote the history of the Donetsk People’s Republic with his life. Blessed memory of him will forever remain in our hearts,” Denis Pushilin said.
“Everyone looked up to him. Because he had such charisma, which disposed everyone to him. His actions gave us confidence. With him, we overcame all the hot spots of this war. Each of us misses him as a leader, as a commander, as a friend,” said Colonel Vladimir Zhoga, Commander of the Sparta Independent Reconnaissance Battalion named after Arsen Pavlov.
In the spring of 2014, Arsen Pavlov was among the first volunteers who rallied to defend the freedom and independence of the Donetsk People’s Republic. He got his nom-de-guerre Motorola for filming and posting the first videos of this war in Slavyansk. In August 2014, Motorola’s unit, which later became a battalion named “Sparta”, took part in the defense of Ilovaisk. For courage and bravery he showed in the battles for Donetsk Airport, Motorola was awarded the title of Hero of the Donetsk People’s Republic. On October 16, 2016, Arsen Pavlov died in Donetsk as the result of the terrorist attack organized by Ukrainian special services.
