On Thursday, September 3, Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic Denis Pushilin took part in the festive events dedicated to the Day of Liberation of the town of Debaltsevo from Nazi invaders.
The Head of State laid flowers at the memorial “Eternal Glory to the Heroes of 1941-1943”, and addressed the residents of the town from the stage.
“Dear residents of the town of military glory of Debaltsevo! We annually celebrate the Day of Liberation of the town from fascism on September 3. Heroism, courage, bravery of our ancestors, our grandfathers and great-grandfathers allows us today to look to the future confidently and bring up our children.
Until 2014, no one thought that our land would again face the horrors of war. 2014 and 2015 were hard. But, as it happened in far 1943, our defenders liberated Debaltsevo and gave the town the opportunity to blossom out. Unfortunately, the war is not over, and we still have a lot to do. But thanks to our citizens, the people with truly tough temper, the Republic will succeed.
We try to make sure that our children know and understand what war is and the value of peace. We try to tell them as many stories as possible about the railwaymen who took an active part in the liberation of the town, about the partisans, about members of underground organizations. About how many heroes gave their lives for the liberation. It is important to honor history to be able to look to the future. May we succeed!
Eternal glory to the heroes, the people-liberator and all the defenders of Donbass!” the Head of the Republic said.
