Today, on August 6, a mourning rally in the memory of photojournalist Andrey Stenin took place in Snezhnoye, it was attended by activists of the Donetsk Republic Public Movement, officials from the district administration and local residents, the press service of the Donetsk Republic Public Movement reports.
“Today marks six years since Andrey Stenin and his workfellows died on this spot. Ordinary residents of Snezhnoye, ordinary residents of Donbass, who were fleeing the war, died here too. The armed forces of Ukraine stationed here tanks that shot cars of ordinary people. More than 10 cars were shot and burned down then. It was Ukrainian militants who committed this crime against the people of Donbass. We thank Andrey and his like for not leaving us and for not being afraid to show the entire world the horrors of our war,” head of the Snezhnoye Administration Alexander Skvortsov said.
In turn, Nadezhda Kandaurova, principal of School 1 named after A. Stenin, said that she never lost touch with the photojournalist’ colleagues and his mother.
Participants in the mourning rally laid flowers and observed a minute of silence in tribute to the memory of the victims.
Recall that photojournalist from the Rossiya Segodnya news agency Andrey Stenin died on August 6, 2014, in the line of duty in the active combat zone in Donbass.
The authorities of the town of Snezhnoye decided to name a local school in the village of Gornyatskoye after Andrey Stenin. Later, a bust of the journalist was put up in the school lobby.
