Since the beginning of the current 24-hour period, another fact of the AFU aggression has occurred in the south of our Republic, Spokesman for the DPR PMD Colonel Eduard Basurin reported at the briefing on December 18.
Militants from a marine battalion twice used mortars, having fired ten 120mm shells in the direction of Dzerzhinskoye from positions near Lebedinskoye, and six 120mm shells at Leninskoye from positions near Vodyanoye.
Militants used a UAV to adjust fire, air defense units of the People’s Militia’s destroyed it.
The enemy fire activity was suppressed by adequate retaliatory fire with the use of non-prohibited weapons. The enemy’s losses are being specified.
We regret to report that as the result of the enemy fire, two of our defenders suffered fatal wounds. We offer our sincere condolences to the families and friends of the victims.
The facts of violation were promptly reported to representatives of the Ukrainian party to the JCCC in order to take action against the violators and exclude the possibility of falsifying data on ceasefire violations by Ukrainian militants.
“Note that despite the Republic’s peaceful initiatives to resolve the conflict and the fact that units of the People’s Militia strictly observe the ceasefire and fulfil the Additional Measures Package, Ukrainian armed forces are seeking to destabilize the situation and create a precedent for withdrawal from the agreements on the peaceful resolution of the conflict,” Eduard Basurin stressed.
We call on international monitors of the OSCE SMM and the international community to focus on the facts of gross ceasefire violation, force the Ukrainian military and political leadership to comply with the Minsk Agreements and raise the issue to stabilize the situation in Donbass.
