Vasily Tatarov, born 1983, turned to the Ministry of State Security (MGB) and reported about an attempt of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) to recruit him, the press service of the DPR MGB informs.
It was established that in late 2018, V. Tatarov and his family left for Kiev to obtain a Ukrainian passport for travel abroad.
Since he was denied its issuance, Tatarov decided to return to the DPR territory. When crossing the Maryinka checkpoint in the Ukrainian territory, he was invited to a conversation with SBU representatives, during which Tatarov told about the purpose of his visit to Ukraine and the problem in obtaining the document he needed.
Taking advantage of the information received, the representatives of the Ukrainian special services offered Tatarov assistance in obtaining a travel passport for a gain in the amount of $200, and asked him to help them bring a mobile telecommunications terminal to the DPR territory.
V. Tatarov refused this offer and reported the incident to DPR MGB officers after he crossed the Aleksandrovka checkpoint.
It should be noted that state security officers of the Republic coordinated all Tatarov’s actions later on.
In December 2019, when crossing the Maryinka checkpoint, V. Tatarov was again invited to a conversation with SBU representatives, but that time he was psychologically pressured and blackmailed because his father is a member of the DPR military.
Threatening to bring Tatarov to criminal responsibility as an accomplice to the terrorists, the SBU representatives forced the latter to bring a box with an alleged camera to the DPR territory.
Tatarov handed the box over to the DPR MGB officers when crossing the Aleksandrovka checkpoint.
Later on, when examining the transferred object, it was found that the box contained an explosive device.
Tatarov was released from criminal liability for turning willingly to the DPR MGB, given that the state security of the Republic was not harmed.
