The Donetsk People’s Republic, like all countries in the world, faced the coronavirus pandemic. The introduction of the high alert regime, strengthening of a number of restrictive measures, selfless work of our doctors and support of the state allowed us to keep the situation under control.
Throughout the year, the Republic has been paying special attention to the health care system and has allocated significant funds to fight the spread of the coronavirus infection. In particular, personal protective gear and disinfectants, medical oxygen and equipment, other medical products have been purchased; consumables and reagents have been purchased; and the work of the virological laboratory of the Republic Center for Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service of the Ministry of Health of the DPR has been arranged. Health workers of the Donetsk People’s Republic who directly work with patients are getting additional financial support.
The global nature of the second wave of the epidemic, its high growth rate, socio-economic conditions in which the Republic lives, as well as the blockade and resumption of attacks from Ukraine do not allow us to solve the problem on our own. Against this background, in October 2020, the Russian Federation will provide us with humanitarian aid in order to improve the epidemiological situation in the Republic, namely, it will ensure the supply of medications and medical products (test systems and consumables for PCR tests, personal protective gear, disinfectants, 30 medical ventilators, 75 oxygen concentrators, oxygen saturation monitors and other medical equipment) worth a total of 258 million rubles.
This is an invaluable and timely assistance in the fight against the coronavirus infection and pneumonia. This help from fraternal Russia will allow us to curb the spread of the epidemic and save the lives and health of our citizens.
On behalf of the citizens of the Donetsk People’s Republic, I express our great gratitude to the leadership and the entire people of Russia for not leaving us alone with the invisible threat.
Denis Pushilin
Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic
