Today, on August 25, a commemorative event called “We Shall Not Forget”, which was dedicated to the anniversary of the liberation of the town from the armed forces of Ukraine, was held under the auspices of the Donetsk Republic Public Movement in Novoazovsk near the monument to the Soldiers-Liberators. The event was attended by Head of the Novoazovsky District Administration and Secretary of the DRPM local office Oleg Morgun, Mayor of Novoazovsk Alexander Balandin, residents and guests of the town, the press service of the public movement reports.
There are 13 populated localities at the delimitation line in the Novoazovsky district, their residents are acutely affected by all the horrors of this war: five civilians from Sakhanka, 12 from Kominternovo, and 15 from Shirokino died as the result of hostilities of the armed forces of Ukraine. Dozens of defenders of the Donetsk People’s Republic fell on the field of battle, protecting the young state’s borders.
“Not by accident we have assembled today at the foot of the monument to the soldiers who liberated our district from the Nazi invaders during the Great Patriotic War. In those August days, six years ago, the town of Novoazovsk was liberated from the Ukrainian nationalist battalions. For six years, the war has been going on in our land. For six long years, they have been destroying our residential buildings and infrastructure. But the worst thing is that all these years they have been killing young men, who defend the borders of our Republic, as well as civilians and even children. Four young lives of our fellow countrymen were cut short through the fault of those who profess the ideology of fascism and nationalism nowadays,” Oleg Morgun said in his speech.
After the official part, the leadership and residents of the town observed a minute of silence in tribute to the memory of those who were killed by shells of the armed forces of Ukraine. Then, they laid flowers at the monument.
