At the February 2 meeting of the working group on security, the representative of the Ukrainian delegation, who for several meetings in a row had been calling to urgently solve the “acute humanitarian issue” of the repair and restoration work to the gas pipeline at the Krasnogorovka-Maryinka distribution station, ignored all possible compromise solutions and said that there was no point in continuing the discussion of this matter.
According to representative of the Republic to the talks Alexei Nikonorov, such a sharp change in the priorities of official Kiev representatives demonstrates the actual “care” for their people, who have been living without proper heating for five years.
“The representative of the Ukrainian delegation continued to accuse the Republic despite the fact that our side a long time ago proposed a working mechanism for repair and restoration operations. If the Ukrainian side really wanted, the necessary measures would have been carried out already.
Such behavior only confirms the assumption that Kiev officials planned to use the case on the gas distribution station merely as an asset in the past meeting of the H4 advisors, because after the failure to implement it, the problem with the heating system among the civilian population again lost its relevance for the Ukrainian side.
The coordinator intervened in, to put it mildly, this strange situation: he supported the position of the Republic and proposed that the OSCE SMM should be more actively involved in monitoring the events, including with the use of all technical means available to them. The parties supported Mr. Çevik’s initiatives,” Nikonorov stated.
Also, during the videoconference, the Ukrainian side accused the DPR People’s Militia of killing a Ukrainian military member. In response, Alexei Nikonorov quoted Kiev’s representative: “This is a provocation and staging.”
“This is how officials from the Ukrainian delegation respond to our statements about the losses caused by AFU attacks among the Republic’s defenders,” Nikonorov added.
