On Wednesday, February 3, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky imposed sanctions against opposition TV channels. Chairman of the DPR People’s Council Vladimir Bidyovka commented on the introduction of sanctions against three Ukrainian TV channels, the press service of the DPR People’s Council reports.
“For so many years Ukraine has been trying to keep up with freedom, democracy and European values, but, as it seems, it does not go beyond talks. Especially when the agenda includes the actions of the Ukrainian government, which the Ukrainian media is only allowed to praise. In Ukraine, only those who are able to turn a blind eye to the real situation, shift accents and substitute the wish for the reality are allowed to broadcast from the blue screens, while the unwanted are always branded as “foreign propagandists”. The Ukrainian version of freedom of speech in all its glory — they wanted it like in Europe, but it turned out like always. Well, once again we see the classic picture of dirty and unprincipled Ukrainian politics. Nevertheless, it gives a clear understanding of how far Zelensky is willing to go in his political intrigues, how easily he retracts his words and, of course, what the role of legality and legitimacy is in his actions. In keeping with the best traditions of Poroshenko: make the best of a bad business,” Vladimir Bidyovka said.
