Over the past day, the enemy committed two violations of Paragraph 2 of the Additional Measures to enhance and control the ceasefire, namely, the prohibition to open fire. Spokesman for the DPR People’s Militia Directorate Colonel Eduard Basurin reported at the briefing in Donetsk on October 9.
The militants of the 37th battalion of the 56th separate motorised infantry AFU brigade fired two anti-tank guided missiles at the Donetsk airport area from the positions near Opytnoye. These arms have been engaged by the AFU for the first time since the entry into force of the current ceasefire.
Another shelling with heavy anti-tank grenade launchers was carried out by the militants of the 1st battalion of the 56th brigade in the direction of the Donetsk-Severny railway station.
In addition to that, seven explosions were registered at the positions of the 56th AFU brigade near Pesky and Vodyanoye.
“Provocative shelling and explosions at the AFU positions come connected with the presence of a Lithuanian delegation headed by the Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to Ukraine in the responsibility zones of the 54th and 56th brigades. These attacks were carried out with a view to provoke the People’s Militia units into opening return fire and accuse them of violating the current ceasefire. At that, by resorting to such methods, the Ukrainian command is trying to justify the need to receive another batch of military and technical aid.
These facts have been promptly made known to the Ukrainian party representatives to the JCCC within the framework of the coordination mechanism in order to exclude possible accusations of the People’s Militia of provocations,” Eduard Basurin explained.
