The draft law on the internment (forced resettlement) of Russian citizens, which the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine submitted for consideration to the Verkhovna Rada, is evidence of the policy of genocide, an open attempt to “mop up” those who think, speak and live in the Russian way, DPR Human Rights Commissioner Darya Morozova stated.
“By pushing forward this draft law, the Ukrainian government is actually trying to legalize concentration camps on its territory. If adopted, this law would apply not only to war veterans of Donbass, but also to civilians having Russian citizenship. In this case, the decision to intern a person would be made not in court, but by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Moreover, there is no right of appeal!
The most cynical thing is that in order to justify it to the world community, they shelter all this behind the ideas of national security. Moreover, the document itself was drawn up in violation of a number of regulations of international law. In particular, the draft law violates the provisions enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Geneva Convention of August 12, 1949 On the Protection of Civilian Population in Time of War, and contradicts the provisions of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
Such kind of legislative initiative by Ukraine is reminiscent of the racist Nuremberg laws of Nazi Germany, which were aimed at isolating Jews on account of their ethnic (“racial”) descent. This comparison very clearly demonstrates Ukraine’s attitude towards the residents of Donbass,” Darya Morozova stated.
